1. Identifies the person as a true believer.
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV

2. Provides a spiritual family to support and encourage you in your Christian life.
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:1-2 NKJV

3. Gives the person a place to discover and use their gifts in ministry.
For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
Romans 12:4-6 NKJV

4. Places the person under spiritual protection of Godly leadership.
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
Hebrews 13:17 NKJV

5. Gives the person the accountability they need to grow.
As iron sharpens iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
